This has been quite the turnaround.

Trading Jahan Dotson to the Philadelphia Eagles opened things up for other wide receivers to impress. The Washington Commanders are looking for someone to step up and become a viable No. 2 option alongside Terry McLaurin. Noah Brown should help, but it might take the new addition time to find his feet despite his previous connection to head coach Dan Quinn.

Dyami Brown's renaissance throughout the offseason left the Commanders with no option other than to give him one final chance to prove himself. The athletically gifted individual went through three anonymous seasons in Washington before getting a new lease of life under the current regime. Things are still hanging precariously for the former third-round pick, but his fortunes look better now than at any stage since entering the league.

Brown offers something a little different. He's an imposing threat downfield with the size and speed needed to make splash plays if given the chance. Something the Commanders can put to good use with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels under center.

Dyami Brown tipped to become Commanders' X-factor in 2024

Just when all hope seemed lost, a window of opportunity awaits Brown in 2024. This was a sentiment echoed by Ben Solak of ESPN, who named the North Carolina product as Washington's potential X-factor during the upcoming campaign if the same trend continues.

"Perhaps no incumbent Washington player will benefit more from new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury than [Dyami] Brown. Kingsbury's offense needs receivers who can line up outside, get vertical and win a one-on-one against the sideline. That's Brown's bread and butter. Even more good news for Brown: New quarterback Jayden Daniels relied heavily on winning isolation one-on-ones at LSU last season. If Brown can win consistently on this route, it will smooth the on-ramp for Daniels as the rookie gets up to NFL speed, ensure the Commanders have a viable non-McLaurin target and create scoring opportunities via the explosive play."

Fans are approaching Brown's newfound optimism with a sense of caution. They've seen the wideout flash over the summer several times without any substance attached when things matter more. Until he proves his worth in a competitive setting, doubts will remain.

And yet, somehow this feels different.

Kliff Kingsbury's dynamic offensive concepts and Daniels' downfield accuracy can provide the spark needed for Brown to excel. This is a contract year for the player, so he shouldn't be short of incentives to finally put everything together.

This is the chance Brown's been waiting for. He's got his foot back in the door and looks re-energized under a coaching staff that believes in his abilities. That might be what he's needed all this time after falling out of favor with previous head coach Ron Rivera.

Enthusiasm is growing, that much is obvious. At the same time, all it'll take is a couple of costly mistakes during the regular season to see Brown go back to the fringes.

It's a high-stakes situation. However, the fact Brown has the opportunity to establish himself is a testament to his application and intent to maximize every available opportunity.

That's an undoubted positive for Brown on his potential road to redemption. But make no mistake, what comes next is more vital than ever.
