Josh Harris on complicated Commanders deal

Josh Harris' ownership group has breathed new life into the Washington Commanders since their $6.05 billion purchase received NFL approval. Fan experience has improved, the dark cloud has lifted, and everyone is finally pulling in the same direction after the most turbulent two decades in franchise history.

It was a rollercoaster ride for Harris during the negotiating process with Dan Snyder - a notoriously petulant and difficult man to deal with at the best of times. This is something he discussed via Front Office Sports recently while also highlighting his desire to be present and accountable throughout his ownership tenure.

"The deal was hard. It was all stressful. I had to put together a group of 20 investors, raise capital, and then convince the NFL that we were going to be good stewards. So, it was a really complicated deal. Dan ultimately decided who won. I grew up with the team. I felt like being out front and allowing people to understand where we were heading made sense given the whole situation. I’ve put myself out there, but we’ve been incredibly welcomed by the city. It was really important that that happened, and it’s been my pleasure to do it. It’s been a lot of time, energy and work, but the city of Washington and the DMV deserve it."

Nothing worth having comes easy. While it's easy to forget Snyder was a fan too before buying the franchise, there's something different about Harris' group from personality and purpose standpoints.

One only has to look at FedEx Field on Sunday to see what this means to the city. And if Harris has his way, this is the start of great things to come.
