Commanders QB conundrum

If the Washington Commanders decide to bring in another quarterback as expected this offseason, the chances of utilizing the No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft on a highly touted prospect from the college ranks are high. It seems as if the Chicago Bears could take Caleb Williams at No. 1, which leaves those in power with Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye in this scenario.

One could make a strong case for either. Former Washington player turner analyst Logan Paulsen revealed his preference would be for the Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU. This is down to his game-changing skill set and the complications he gives opposing defenses based on comments via USA Today Sports.

"I just think, when you watch him this year, when you watch the Alabama game, the Florida game, you’re just like, ‘man, this dude is special.’ He’s a special athlete; he does some stuff athletically that’s very unique to him. He presents conflicts for defenses, and when you look around the NFL, especially in the playoffs, you’ve got a whole bunch of playmakers at the position. You’ve got Josh Allen, you’ve got Patrick Mahomes, you’ve got Lamar Jackson, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that those guys are pretty consistently in the playoff picture……in terms of what they can do athletically."

It's hard to say which way the Commanders will go when push comes to shove. There are a lot of evaluations to do and they also need to hear the thoughts of their new head coach as part of general manager Adam Peters' aligned vision for the franchise. Whichever signal-caller is chosen, fans should trust the improved football men in the building until proven otherwise.
