Ron Rivera looking for strong Commanders finish

As it stands, the Washington Commanders hold the No. 4 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. Looking at their schedule and the way teams around them are picking up surprising results, it could get a lot better when the final order is confirmed.

Fans are already dreaming about a top-three - perhaps even top-two - selection to assist their upcoming rebuild. Some are even suggesting the Commanders should consider tanking for the rest of 2023 with nothing on the line.

This was not a sentiment echoed by Ron Rivera. The head coach stated his desire to remain professional via Washington's website. After all, many in the building are fighting for their futures beyond the current campaign.

"I just struggle with that just because we're professionals. We play to do our best, put it all out there and that's what we intend to do, is just put it all out there. I think this is a very good challenge for us just because it is a team that is fighting for their playoff life. The big thing that we have to do is just go out and play our game."

Rivera's fate looks to be sealed. But he'll want to leave with some positivity despite overseeing four consecutive losing seasons.

Easier said than done. From Rivera's standpoint, it won't be for the want of trying.
