Confidence in Eric Bieniemy

There's been a lot of speculation about some Washington Commanders players reportedly being unhappy with Eric Bieniemy's methods. They cried to Ron Rivera before the season began and if recent reports are to be taken as gospel, wanted the head coach to take back power and won't be giving him a glowing recommendation for the head coaching gig in 2024.

There's no smoke without fire, as the old saying goes. Bieniemy is set in his ways - which isn't a bad thing - but the respected offensive mind drew nothing but praise from quarterback Sam Howell for his growth throughout the season based on comments via Washington's website.

"He's grown as a leader, as an OC throughout the season as he's done probably his whole career. He's just gotten better every single week and he continues to work so hard, so it's fun to play for him."

This flourishing relationship between Bieniemy and Howell cannot be ignored by Josh Harris' ownership group when they inevitably begin searching for a new head coach in 2024. However, player unrest is the last thing this new regime needs in pursuit of better fortunes next time around.

It's a tricky situation. But if Howell had his way, Bieniemy would be around next season to further aid his development.
