Commanders confidence in pursuit of top targets

While there are three games left to navigate, most fans are eagerly anticipating what the future might hold. Josh Harris' ownership group looks set to make significant alterations to the team's infrastructure once the campaign concludes. This will likely involve relieving head coach Ron Rivera and general manager Martin Mayhew of their duties along the way.

How they'll approach staffing recruitment is anyone's guess right now. According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, there is a lot of buzz in league circles about the potential vacancies. Something that's brought a level of confidence that Harris can land his top targets when the cycle begins.

"A job that is better than perceived is Washington, which is getting a lot of buzz with an energized owner looking to turn it around. Washington is also swimming in draft picks, including five in the first three rounds in 2024, and already has a solid roster. Depending on how this season ends, the Commanders’ first pick could even be in the top five. I still can’t believe I typed Washington, a team that has had 21 quarterbacks over 20 years, as the top destination spot for coaches, but the Commanders are on the rise. They might be able to land their top candidate once they begin that process."

Washington has placed itself in a strong position to speed up their upcoming rebuild. If a potential candidate needs further convincing, then speaking with Harris and the charismatic Magic Johnson about their bold ambitions to take the franchise forward could tip the scales in the Commanders' favor.
