Former Commanders QB opens up in documentary

The bar isn't exactly high, but one could argue that Kirk Cousins was the most consistent quarterback of the Dan Snyder era. The Washington Commanders let him walk after two-straight franchise tags, and the veteran deserves an endless amount of credit for accumulating generational wealth with fully guaranteed contracts on the Minnesota Vikings.

It's been a mixed bag for Cousins in Minnesota. Statistically, he remains a top-level performer and arguably a top-10 player at the position, but he's been unable to get the Vikings over the hump. With one year remaining on his deal, the former Michigan State standout could be looking for a new home in 2024.

Cousins - together with Marcus Mariota and reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes - gave unprecedented access to Netflix for a special documentary. "Quarterback" details their journey over a 12-month period, which promises to be fascinating viewing for football fans far and wide.

Netflix released the first four minutes of episode No. 1 ahead of Wednesday's premiere. And it looks absolutely fantastic.

The Commanders are hoping Sam Howell can follow in Cousins' footsteps next season by emerging as a mid-round draft pick into a highly capable NFL performer. If he cannot meet expectations, there will be a bunch of prestigious vacancies within the franchise next spring.
