Commanders QB Jayden Daniels' ambition

Jayden Daniels has the weight of an entire NFL franchise on his young shoulders. The Washington Commanders ended months of speculation by taking the quarterback at No. 2 overall, which Adam Peters revealed was always the likely scenario from some way out thanks to the exceptional credentials at his disposal.

Despite what some in the national media would have you believe, Daniels was thrilled by the chance to wake a sleeping giant and lead the Commanders back to prosperity. He's got the aura and dynamic production normally associated with franchise-caliber quarterbacks at the next level. This also looks like a decent situation to be walking into if Washington's revamped offensive line holds up in the face of inevitable pressure.

When asked by former Washington legend Doug Williams - who was reportedly part of the evaluation process - how he wants to be remembered, the Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU centered his answer on becoming an inspiration and turning around a struggling organization based on comments via USA Today Sports.

“Somebody that people look up to as a role model and hero. That’s how I want to be remembered. Somebody that made a huge impact in the community. Giving back, giving hope and inspiration to kids who look like me. No matter what, I’m excited and will do whatever it takes to help the team win.”

This is a bold statement, but Daniels has the inner belief to accomplish these ambitions. He's a hard worker, is riding on the crest of a wave after a memorable final campaign in college, and boasts the experience needed to hit the ground running. Although not the most vocal, he leads by example and can inspire those around him in critical moments.

Whether some fans agreed with Daniels being the choice or not, he needs the full support of everyone associated with the Commanders. He'll give it absolutely everything, but the dual-threat weapon cannot do it alone.
