Another trade touted for Commanders DE Chase Young

Chase Young looks like someone on a mission to prove his doubters wrong. The defensive end is back at practice and appearing explosive, but there is a sense of caution about the Washington Commanders' approach with their former No. 2 overall selection after a turbulent two years.

Even though the Commanders highlighted their excitement about Young getting back into the lineup, there are still some who believe a trade could be in the player's immediate future if the right offer comes along. Especially considering the unlikelihood of Washington paying both starting defensive ends the going rate next spring.

Another destination was touted recently. The Houston Texans were projected by The Bleacher Report to come in with an offer of a third-round selection and Jonathan Greenard, which seems a little on the light side considering what Young would be worth in the event he bounces back in 2023.

This is a sentiment echoed by Drake Toll of Sports Illustrated, who scoffed at the trade compensation involved in no uncertain terms.

"[Chase] Young, by all public accounts and once healthy, is still considered to be a budding star in the NFL. Is a budding star, who's just 23 years old and a former rookie standout worth … a third-rounder and Jonathan Greenard? What are we doing here? This mock trade undervalues Young's future contributions to the league as a whole, and it would be shocking for 2020's No. 2 overall draft pick to be on the block for so little return."

Just when these trade rumors surrounding Young will end is anyone's guess. It passes the time before something more concrete takes up column inches, even if the Commanders would probably need an astronomical offer to even consider the possibility.
