Commanders DE Chase Young makes trade list

It doesn't seem like the Washington Commanders are going to trade Chase Young unless a whopping compensation offer comes their way. Even though this has the scope to create some significant complications in 2024 given that Montez Sweat is also looking for a new contract.

This is the bed Ron Rivera made for himself by allocating so much high-end draft capital to Washington's defensive front. When discussing the situation between Young and the Commanders, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports listed the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans, and Buffalo Bills as potential destinations.

"Young seemed like he was going to be a cornerstone player for the Commanders when he was taken No. 2 overall out of Ohio State and then made the Pro Bowl as a rookie. Injuries have dogged him since then, though, and Washington declined to pick up his fifth-year option. Might another team be willing to give up something of value and hope it can tap into his immense upside?"

As Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated revealed recently, the Commanders won't be tempted to trade Young unless it's an offer they cannot refuse. Something most successfully run organizations will be unwilling to match given the player's current career trajectory.

If Young remains on the books, it might be a straight fight between the former Ohio State star and Sweat for a bumper new deal next spring.
