Commanders news: Adam Peters, Dan Quinn, Sam Howell and Jayden Daniels

Commanders GM Adam Peters' intent
Questions about the quarterback position didn't take long to surface during Adam Peters' media availability at the NFL Scouting Combine. The Washington Commanders have many holes to fill this offseason. But thanks to positional importance and the fact they have the No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, this is taking up the majority of speculation.
Peters quickly pointed out that the Commanders aren't just here to examine the quarterbacks based on comments via The Athletic. They are here for multiple position groups in dire need of restoration and perhaps discuss contract extensions or trades for good measure. The new front-office leader also declared that there will be a sensible route to roster building - representing a refreshing pace change.
"Yeah, I really appreciate the non-quarterback question, first of all. That’s not what we’re here for. We’re here for everything. You want to build (the roster) responsibly so it’s sustainable. Spending on a bunch of high-level free agents, that’s probably better in the short term. But are you better in the long term? Maybe, maybe not."

These quotes catch Peters' intentions to build through the draft and supplement any remaining needs through free agency. He wasn't giving too much away, but the Commanders have an abundance of salary-cap space at their disposal. Something that indicates a few big names could join the ranks in pursuit of speeding up this extensive rebuild.
