The Right Choice: Commanders 5-round mock draft cements faith in Sam Howell
By Ryan Heckman
Now, we get to a real interesting pick. This no. 38 selection is the one acquired from the Chicago Bears after trading Montez Sweat, and with this pick, the Commanders go with yet another Alabama defender.
Cornerback Terrion Arnold has a diverse playing history, having moved from safety to cornerback and also being a basketball star. His athleticism and overall sports IQ is off the charts. At six feet tall, Arnold has ideal size for the position. His background as a safety allows him to really read the field well and also be a willing run defender, too.
Much of the attention is on his teammate, Kool-Aid McKinstry, but Arnold is going to be a great pro as well. His versatility and willingness to play all over shows up big time. On the season, Arnold has 10 passes defensed, six tackles for loss, five interceptions, a sack and a forced fumble. He is everywhere.
His patience is one of the best attributes about him, too. He reads plays extremely well and understands where the ball is going. Arnold comes in and starts immediately on this Commanders defense.
