Adam Peters was right to adopt wholesale alterations to the Washington Commanders roster this offseason. The general manager came from a winning organization and implemented similar methods to depth chart construction during his first recruitment period at the helm. Things look promising, but this was always going to be a long road back to prosperity.

The roster looks almost unrecognizable as preparations for the upcoming campaign gather pace. There is renewed energy in the building. Even the most disillusioned players such as Jonathan Allen seem to be rejuvenated under the new regime. Hopefully, this will stand them in good stead when Week 1 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rolls around.

Nobody aside from a few cornerstone pieces should feel comfortable in their respective roles. Peters and head coach Dan Quinn will be constantly evaluating the roster to see what more is needed. Anyone not pulling their weight will be demoted or removed entirely.

With this in mind, here are five vulnerable projected Commanders starters who could lose their spots in 2024.

Jamison Crowder - Commanders KR

According to ESPN's depth chart, Jamison Crowder is listed as the Washington Commanders' starting kick returner. This will be an important role thanks to the NFL's new rules, which seem to favor the return team in pursuit of making this part of the game more exciting.

Crowder was one of few veterans to receive an extension this offseason. He performed well on special teams and managed to accumulate 16 receptions from 20 targets in the passing game. While his contribution was deserving of another look, the former fourth-round pick shouldn't feel any sense of assurance under the new regime.

Those in attendance during Washington's organized team activities noted that the coaching staff is looking at several options in the kick return game. Crowder might be the favorite to secure the No. 1 spot, but the veteran needs to keep the same sense of urgency that he brought into the Commanders following his late arrival before the 2023 campaign.
