Commanders must be aware of Jason Pinnock

Jason Pinnock's emergence as a starting safety with a flair for big plays has been a rare boost for the New York Giants this season. The former waiver-wire pickup is taking full advantage of increased playing time by becoming a key member of coordinator Don 'Wink' Martindale's blitz-heavy defense.

Martindale has blitzed Pinnock 11 times through six games, according to Pro Football Reference. Washington Commanders' quarterback Sam Howell has taken too many sacks already, so he needs to be aware of where the defensive back is pre-snap and adjust protection accordingly.

Even when Pinnock isn't showing blitz, Howell will want to avoid No. 27 in coverage. He is allowing a 50 percent completion percentage and took this interception 102 yards to the house against the Miami Dolphins.

Turnovers are going to be the best way for the Giants to beat a more talented team, so Howell must make protecting the football his priority. That will be easier if Washington's QB1 stays away from the Giants' best cover man.
