5 bold Washington Commanders predictions at the Cardinals in Week 4
By Dean Jones
Commanders secure 2 turnovers
Joe Whitt Jr. preached the desire to secure more takeaways this season. The Washington Commanders haven't gotten close to meeting the coordinator's objectives as yet. This has to change as a matter of urgency to stand any chance of beating the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4.
Washington has one turnover to show for its efforts through three weeks. A lack of pressure on opposing quarterbacks is causing untold complications in the secondary. That's a bad combination for any defense - something that was also evident last season when Jack Del Rio and Ron Rivera took charge of defensive responsibilities.
Things would look more troublesome had the offensive efficiency not been so impressive. Washington's turnover differential is +1, but they cannot keep relying on the offense to get them out of a hole. This bears more significance against a quarterback with Kyler Murray's credentials.
Murray's thrown just one interception this season, so ending this concerning slump will be difficult for the Commanders. However, their hopes of victory would increase exponentially if Whitt's unit managed to secure two or more turnovers in some capacity. Whether they can accomplish this is another matter.
Commanders win by a touchdown
The Commanders are in the sort of form that means nobody should be feared. They haven't punted in two games. Their offense is moving the football effectively and with purpose. If the defense can step up and provide some semblance of stability, the better this team's chances will be as the campaign progresses.
Arizona will be a tough nut to crack. The Commanders need to be at their best on a short week following their memorable Monday Night Football triumph, which brings its own set of complications. However, momentum is on Dan Quinn's side as his squad looks to make another big statement on the road.
Nobody should be taking the Cardinals lightly. They've got enough offensive firepower to put this game out of sight when in the mood. Taking the crowd out of the equation and establishing the ground game will be crucial early on. After that, rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels will take center stage as he goes toe-to-toe with Kyler Murray.
The Commanders come into the game as underdogs despite securing two straight successes. If they can flip the script and secure another impressive win on their travels, everyone around the league will start taking them seriously.
