There is renewed optimism across the board where the Washington Commanders are concerned in 2024. This is thanks in no small part to the presence of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels under center.

Those in power kept cards close to their chest during a strenuous pre-draft assessment stage. But it was clear from a long way out that general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn honed in on the former LSU phenomenon from a long way out en route to making him the No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Daniels avoided any complacency this offseason. He knew that achievements in college meant nothing among proven professionals who've reached the pinnacle. He earned the respect of his peers through hard work, outstanding on-field production, and emerging leadership. He did it in double-quick time, too.

He also knows what comes next is more important. With this in mind, here are five attainable goals Daniels can aim for during his rookie campaign in Washington.

Jayden Daniels reignites the fanbase

The Washington Commanders have been a sleeping giant for decades. Their fans experienced almost nothing but misery and embarrassment throughout Dan Snyder's ownership. Jayden Daniels is the spark that can reignite legitimate hope this season.

Daniels is exciting and ambitious with the potential to make things happen in almost every way possible. He's got the fortunes of the franchise in the palm of his hand. This is the chance to turn around one of the league's most historic organizations - one that was bashed into oblivion under Snyder's watch.

It's not going to be smooth sailing all the time. Daniels will experience some rookie jitters on occasion and needs the right support system in place. But if he can inspire belief about what could be ahead long-term, that's a strong opening step for the first-year pro with the weight of the world on his young shoulders.
