What roster decisions might come back to haunt the Washington Commanders during a make-or-break campaign for head coach Ron Rivera?

It's been an eventful and difficult few days for those in power within the Washington Commanders. Roster cuts are never easy - especially for those that didn't come back onto the 16-man practice squad - but it was vital Ron Rivera and his staff made the correct calls thanks to the untold pressure on their shoulders in 2023.

Some moves were better received than others. But after thorough assessments and months of preparation, the Commanders look to have some pretty decent options at their disposal heading into an eagerly-anticipated sellout at FedEx Fied against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1.

The Commanders also have around $12.58 million in salary-cap space to make additions should they wish. However, that doesn't seem likely unless injury strikes based on Rivera's level of contentment during his recent media availability.

That being said, here are four potential errors the Commanders made during roster cuts in 2023.

Commanders OL depth options

Much has been made about the Washington Commanders offensive line in recent years. The coaching staff seems to think they've found the right formula, although depth remains a potential complication if any of the starting five are forced to miss time.

Would the Commanders be happy trotting out Trent Scott or Cornelius Lucas for extended reps on the edge? It appears so, but the potential problems are there for all to see - something that could jeopardize this offense's chances of thriving under Eric Bieniemy's exceptional guidance.
