Commanders won't miss Jason Kelce

Jason Kelce has been the beating heart of the Philadelphia Eagles for years. He's also one of the most athletic centers to ever step foot onto an NFL field. Now, he's decided to embark on the next stage of his career journey.

There wasn't a dry eye in the house as Kelce confirmed his retirement after 13 glittering seasons. The former sixth-round selection emerged from obscurity to become a potential first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer, earning seven Pro Bowl selections, six All-Pro honors, and one memorable Super Bowl ring.

Kelce's impact as a formidable offensive lineman is one thing, but his leadership was equally as integral. He embraced the often volatile Philadelphia fanbase and ensured this transitioned to every player he went to war with. It was difficult to walk away - especially after another All-Pro year in 2023 - but the Cincinnati product believed it was the right time.

He's embarking on a successful media career and it would be a shock if Kelce wasn't an analyst with one of the major networks by Week 1. However, his departure is great news for the Washington Commanders as they look to turn the NFC East tide sooner rather than later.

The Eagles are still a huge obstacle to overcome, but not having an inspirational spark such as Kelce is going to hurt in times of struggle.
