4 guaranteed home runs from the Commanders' 2024 offseason

Commanders hired Adam Peters
Josh Harris' ownership group needed to find the right guy to lead their football operation once they decided Ron Rivera wasn't the guy. It was clear from early on they had one particular candidate in mind.
The Washington Commanders honed in on Adam Peters almost immediately. Other candidates were considered, but he was the favorite from a long way out. He's been the most coveted front-office figure for years and saw this as the perfect project to take on from the top job.
Peters laid out his plans to Harris and his team. They received widespread approval. Putting them into action was the tricky part, but it's something the former San Francisco 49ers executive accomplished with minimal fuss.
The Commanders are working with more collaboration and professionalism than ever before. Peters adopted a ruthless approach to his roster revamp. Very few holdovers out of contract got new deals. A plethora of fresh faces came into the fold. This was done without jeopardizing the team's long-term financial flexibility to further raise optimism.
There was also a lot to like about the way Peters navigated his first draft. The Commanders had an abundance of capital at their disposal. They found their potential franchise quarterback, moved down with a divisional rival for improved assets, and found a nice blend of immediate difference-makers and development pieces along the way.
That's not counting for the outstanding appointments made by Peters in the front office. He's made the Commanders a desirable destination once again. The league is starting to look at them differently. This was always going to be half the battle given how things descended into chaos under Dan Snyder.
Just how much on-field progress will come in 2024 remains to be seen. However, there's no doubt whatsoever that the Commanders are in the best possible hands with Peters. It's been a long time since anyone associated with the franchise could say that.
