The Washington Commanders are in the final stages of planning before their first training camp under the new regime. There's rejuvenated energy around the organization following one of the most dramatic offseasons in franchise history. Putting this to good use is imperative.

Players, coaches, and front office staff are working in unison with one common goal. Fans are firmly on board and excited for the future. Strong foundations were laid by head coach Dan Quinn over early offseason workouts. Building on these positively throughout camp and preseason games will raise optimism further.

It's hard to ignore the positive signs emanating from the Commanders. The increased expectancy and depth across the board won't be good news for some, but that's all part of general manager Adam Peters' ruthless approach to his roster construction since taking the job.

With this in mind, here are four Commanders players facing uncertain futures at the team's upcoming training camp in Ashburn.

Kazmeir Allen - Commanders WR

It seemed for a long time as if Kazmeir Allen would make the Washington Commanders 53-man roster in 2023. The versatile wide receiver was a high-priority target during undrafted free agency. He could not build on a positive start and settled for a place on the practice squad.

Allen is getting another chance to prove himself under the new regime. The Commanders need someone explosive who can impact the return game - something that will become more prevalent during the 2024 season thanks to the NFL rule changes.

There's plenty of competition for places in the wideout room. Allen will get a fair shot just like everyone else, but catching the eye consistently throughout camp is critical. If the former UCLA star can also make a couple of long returns during the preseason, it'll bolster his chances of making the team considerably.

Anything less will see the Commanders go in a different direction. Allen would be forced to settle for a practice squad spot or out of the league entirely in this scenario.
