Which Washington Commanders are in danger of being benched after the team's latest humiliating loss at the Los Angeles Rams in Week 15?
The Washington Commanders have three more games to get through before another underwhelming season mercifully ends. It's been another rough ride for fans. While optimism remains high for the future under Josh Harris' ownership group, it's not brought much in the way of legitimate on-field progress in Year 1.
That wasn't entirely unexpected when one considers how late Harris' group finalized the purchase. What comes next is of critical importance once Ron Rivera and many others are let go.
Rivera is still churning over the roster plenty in the slim hope of salvaging the campaign on a high. Many wonder what's the point at this late stage. But the head coach is still fighting until the end no matter how bleak his future appears.
With this in mind, here are four Commanders players who could be benched after the team's Week 15 loss at the Los Angeles Rams.
Commanders could bench Chris Paul
Chris Paul went out of the game due to injury on Sunday. His status for this weekend at the New York Jets is unclear. But the Washington Commanders have to consider taking him out of the firing line after failing to maximize his starting chance.
One saving grace for Paul might be the lack of genuine depth across the Commanders' offensive line. This unit is devoid of the right backup quality - so a situation could emerge where Ron Rivera keeps faith with what he has over the next three games.
The former seventh-round selection's status beyond the current campaign is unclear. Paul isn't alone in that regard, but it's hard to look at his performances this season and think he deserves another shot in 2024.
