Which teams could sign Chase Roullier after the Washington Commanders released the center with a post-June 1 designation?

After the Washington Commanders picked up Nick Gates in free agency and drafted Ricky Stromberg at No. 97 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, it seemed almost inevitable that Chase Roullier would be released. A move that was made official late last week.

The Commanders cut Roullier with a post-June 1 designation, saving them $8.37 million on their salary cap. This boosts available financial funds to just over $10 million, which is enough to sign their draft class at long last.

Roullier is a solid performer when healthy, even if his track record of being on the field is suspect over the last two seasons. Providing the veteran proves his fitness, there should be a number of teams examining the prospect of bringing the former sixth-round selection on board.

With this in mind, here are three teams that make sense for Roullier after his release by the Commanders.

Chase Roullier could join Bears after Commanders release

The Chicago Bears have been one of the biggest players throughout the offseason. They spent big in free agency and also gained a significant amount of capital by trading down from No. 1 overall with the Carolina Panthers.

Putting the right pieces around Justin Fields has been the biggest priority for those in power. After the Washington Commanders cut ties with Chase Roullier, he could be seen as an upgrade on Chicago's current center Cody Whitehair.

Chicago is looking to make a strong claim for the NFC North title in 2023 with Aaron Rodgers no longer in the division. Acquiring a top performer like Roullier if the money is right makes sense.
