3 small Commanders' moves that could make a big difference in 2024

Commanders drafted Luke McCaffrey
The Washington Commanders made a substantial investment to finally solve their complex quarterback riddle once and for all. Jayden Daniels was their choice at No. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, which has completely ignited a fanbase after his seamless transition throughout early workouts.
Daniels has the skills to take the league by storm. However, the Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU cannot do it alone.
He needs a strong supporting cast and an offensive scheme tailored to his strengths. This means the offensive line must provide the protection needed and Daniels' pass-catchers need to get open consistently. Anything less could see unnecessary complications emerge.
Adam Peters opted for slight tweaks rather than anything too drastic in terms of alterations in the wide receiver room. Olamide Zaccheaus was the only notable arrival in free agency. The Commanders waited until the final pick on Day 2 to acquire a wideout from the college ranks, but there's growing confidence surrounding the fortunes of Luke McCaffrey after his impressive start to early offseason preparations.
McCaffrey comes from a strong NFL bloodline and is a willing learner. He's been spending plenty of time with Terry McLaurin - another third-round selection - to soak up as much information and tips as possible to hit the ground running.
The former Rice star is not the finished product by any stretch. McCaffrey is still figuring out the position after transitioning from a quarterback in college. But the early signs are positive nonetheless.
McCaffrey and Daniels seem to be developing an encouraging rapport that can blossom further throughout the summer. The Commanders are also deploying the pass-catcher in various alignments across the line of scrimmage, so all signs point to the player being heavily involved right out of the gate.
Expecting miracles from McCaffrey right away wouldn't be fair. That said, his athleticism, work ethic, and assured hands mean he could thrive as the campaign goes on.
