What intriguing storylines are following the Washington Commanders into their Week 13 home game against the Miami Dolphins?
Not many are expecting the Washington Commanders to end their concerning slump this afternoon. The Miami Dolphins are one of the premier contenders to lift the Super Bowl this season, with a high-octane offense and vastly underrated defense resulting in eight wins from their 11 contests so far.
This is the last regular season engagement before the Commanders head off on their bye week. FedEx Field is once again reportedly sold out for the clash, so the last thing head coach Ron Rivera needs is another sluggish start versus a dangerous team capable of putting up points quickly.
Defeat in this one would condemn Rivera to his fourth consecutive losing season as head coach. Something that only lends further weight to the notion he'll be fired by Josh Harris' ownership group once the campaign ends.
Nobody has given up just yet. For fans, here are three intriguing storylines worthy of watching closely in Week 13.
Eric Bieniemy vs. Vic Fangio
Two of the most respected coordinators around square off when Eric Bieniemy and Vic Fangio lock horns. The Washington Commanders have a lot on their plate defensively, so they'll need significant help from the play-caller and his offense in pursuit of an unlikely triumph.
Speculation continues to surface regarding supposed player unhappiness with Bieniemy. It hasn't phased the two-time Super Bowl winner whatsoever, but he'll know full well how difficult a task is upcoming versus Fangio's defense.
The Miami Dolphins look well-balanced at all three levels and Fangio always puts his players in the best positions to thrive. Who comes out on top between the two will go a long way to determining the overall outcome.
