Treylon Burks brought the Washington Commanders' prime-time clash against the Denver Broncos with a sensational touchdown catch that will go down in franchise folklore. While it didn't mean nearly as much as Noah Brown's ridiculous Hail Mary miracle versus the Chicago Bears in 2024, the astonishing degree of difficulty instantly makes it one of the highlights of the NFL year.

Burks is rapidly improving his chances of an extended stay in Washington. He was in desperate need of a fresh start after things fizzled out quickly with the Tennessee Titans. It's still early days, but it looks like the former Arkansas standout has finally found somewhere his career can take off.

This extraordinary touchdown grab instantly invoked memories of a similar catch made by Odell Beckham Jr. for the New York Giants. Both players were falling backwards. Both players made improbably one-handed grabs for touchdowns. And coincidentally, both wide receivers did it wearing the number 13.

Beckham was watching. He took the time to post his approval on social media after the reception, acknowledging Burks's exceptional effort in sparking real life into the Commanders against one of the league's most formidable defenses.

This was the most significant confidence boost of the young wideout's career. He's gone through a rollercoaster of emotions, and trying to replace A.J. Brown on the Tennessee Titans was too much pressure so early into his professional journey. This was a steep learning curve, but based on his initial output in Washington, the bad experiences with the AFC South club have served him well.

The Commanders desperately need someone in the receiver room with the capability to make tough contested catches in key moments, especially with Terry McLaurin missing so much time this season and Brown still on the shelf. It's been a rocky road for Burks, but a few more highlight reel moments like this are not going to go unnoticed by those in power when the time comes to decide his future beyond 2025.

It was a majestic moment in an otherwise disappointing campaign in Washington. Hopefully, it'll be the start of great things to come from Burks moving forward.
