Jayden Daniels' start to the season has been a revelation. The Washington Commanders are sitting at 4-1 after a memorable opening to the campaign. There are several important factors in play behind their immediate turnaround. None are more important than the quarterback's rapid emergence into a genuine franchise presence under center.

Daniels didn't meet the meteoric heights of previous weeks against the Cleveland Browns, but his performance was more than enough to get the job done. He's protecting the football, making smart decisions, and finding the right balance between passing the football or taking off on the move. This makes him an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses to scheme against.

Things couldn't be going better for Daniels and the Commanders. However, the sternest test of their credentials so far is on the immediate horizon.

Washington makes the short trip to M&T Bank Stadium this weekend, where they will lock horns with the Baltimore Ravens. The Super Bowl contenders have been on a tear over the last three games following an indifferent start. John Harbaugh's defense is vulnerable, but the backfield pairing of quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry can wreak havoc on anybody.

We'll find out much more about the Commanders in this one. Daniels will treat it as any other game, but the eyes of the NFL world will be on this early-window contest. It won't be easy, but this is the perfect chance for Washington to prove its legitimacy.

Trevon Diggs tips Jayden Daniels to spearhead Commanders' win in Week 6

One of Daniels' adversaries in the NFC East made a bold prediction for the No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft heading into the clash. Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs said on Micah Parsons' weekly podcast that he expects the signal-caller's talent and Dan Quinn's motivational techniques could be enough for the Commanders to secure a stunning upset on the road.

"I for sure think it's gonna get done. I think he can do it. He's got that swag going on. He's got that confidence, like 'I know I'm like that', you know? And I feel like that comes a lot from Q [Dan Quinn] too. You know how Q had us. Q had us, our confidence through the roof. He's gonna have you ready to play. You're gonna be ready to play and you're gonna want to crash through a wall playing for him. I feel like with his talent, his ability, and he's got that behind him as support, the sky's the limit boy."

Hype is already through the roof regarding Daniels. If he manages to get one over on the Ravens and move Washington to 5-1 along the way, it'll reach stratospheric levels.

The Commanders are playing with house money to a certain extent. Nobody expected them to have such a lofty record at this juncture. Losing against a team that came close to winning the AFC Conference last season and look primed to go one better this time around wouldn't be the end of the world. At the same time, this squad legitimately believes they have a chance in every game with Daniels leading the charge.

It's going to be a fascinating game in more ways than one. Daniels is the young upstart clashing with the reigning NFL MVP and one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in league history. The Commanders have nothing to fear if they maintain their high-performance levels and ruthless efficiency. And as he's proven already, all the LSU product needs is a chance to come through in the clutch.

Will Daniels and the Commanders have enough? Time will tell on that one.
