There were both positives and negatives to take away from the Washington Commanders' preseason loss to the Detroit Lions, but the biggest concern was exactly what everybody expected it to be.
The offensive line is a problem, especially at center, with Nick Allegretti remaining sidelined with a calf strain suffered on the first day of training camp.
Julian Good-Jones singlehandedly tanked the only drive from the Commanders' starting offense at Ford Field, in which quarterback Jayden Daniels was pressured on both dropbacks and sacked once. The veteran practice squad mainstay simply cannot be on the field, and Washington must look outside the organization for answers.
Graham Glasgow would consider Commanders move if given the chance
Thankfully, there might be a solution available that just makes too much sense. And the player in question seems open to the opportunity.
Graham Glasgow has spent seven of his 10 NFL seasons with the Lions. He once snapped the ball for David Blough, who is now the Commanders' offensive coordinator. And it sounds like he's certainly willing to entertain the possibility of coming to Washington if the phone rings.

Glasgow was released by the Lions this past spring and has been unsigned since. He's 34 years old, but that's not ancient in offensive lineman years, and he'd certainly be a quality depth piece for Washington at the minimum.
If Allegretti's situation ends up costing him time in the regular season, the Commanders absolutely must have a better backup plan than Good-Jones.
They have sixth-round rookie Matt Gulbin, but he looks like a development project rather than someone capable of becoming the starting anchor on Washington's protection immediately.
The Commanders fumbled their center situation from the start this offseason by inexplicably releasing Tyler Biadasz. He's also out for the season with a serious knee injury sustained during training camp with the Los Angeles Chargers, but that's not the point.
Commanders have to find a better contingency plan at center before Week 1
When general manager Adam Peters cut him, he expected to sign an upgrade. He never did, and the cracks are already showing.
Washington struck out on Tyler Linderbaum after the Las Vegas Raiders came in with a record-breaking offer in free agency. Peters had to settle for promoting Allegretti from his backup role to play a position he doesn't have much experience at.
Even if the 2019 seventh-round pick out of Illinois is healthy, it's an experiment that could backfire horribly for the Commanders.
Glasgow would give Washington depth. He could be a serviceable starter if necessary, and the interior lineman should have a good idea of the scheme Blough plans to run.
The Commanders cannot mess around with their offensive line in a season that will be absolutely critical to Daniels' development. Considering that they're already down left tackle Laremy Tunsil, arguably the best player on their roster, any problems at center could cause the entire unit to crumble.
The answer here is simple. Sign Glasgow and hope for the best.
