For all that's been said about the Washington Commanders' debacle in overtime against the New York Giants last Sunday, you have to tip your hat to quarterback Jayden Daniels and head coach Dan Quinn for one thing.
Both of them have handled it like grown-ups.
Quinn in particular has fallen on the sword, even knowing it might be the last straw that ultimately leads to his dismissal after the season. And his leadership isn't going unnoticed.
Jayden Daniels and Dan Quinn are determined to grow from unfortunate Week 5 lowlight
Daniels, who has also taken his fair share of ridicule, made sure everyone knew he and his head coach still have the utmost respect for one another.
The signal-caller provided a mature assessment of his role in the mistake during his latest appearance in front of the media, with no deflections or excuses. And he gave credit to Quinn where it was due.
Jayden Daniels says he appreciates Dan Quinn taking the heat this week: We love DQ here

Through all the team's struggles in the past year, Quinn's respect in the locker room has never wavered. It's the way you react in times of adversity that defines a coach's leadership, and the former Atlanta Falcons head man has said all the right things this week.
Daniels, though he initially came under heat for what some interpreted as throwing his coaching staff under the bus, recognizes his position as well. This needs to be a teachable moment for the third-year passer, and he's taking it upon himself to step up as a leader.
Now, we'll see how they respond on the field.
How the Commanders regroup will tell us everything about their resilience and chemistry
Week 5 has to be looked at as an inflection point in the Commanders' 2026 season.
From here, there are two directions: they could sulk and go out like quitters, or they could wake up and go on a run with what will be an easier schedule starting around November.
Things don't get any easier. The Commanders' road game against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football might be Washington's toughest test of the entire season.
A loss is expected, but if it's a competitive loss, no one should be too disappointed. A win would be the ultimate vindication that last week lit a fire under the organization.
After their bye, the Commanders play the Philadelphia Eagles at home (and likely without Jalen Hurts). They visit the Giants two weeks later, followed by the Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, and Atlanta Falcons.
All of those are winnable games.
How the Commanders perform during that stretch will tell us everything about the locker room's mental fortitude and what Quinn's future looks like in D.C.
And for Daniels, there's a burning passion to fight back for both himself and his coach.
