Commanders vs. Steelers early odds and prediction for Week 10 game
By Dean Jones
It's been another dramatic week for the Washington Commanders. An impressive triumph at the New York Giants secured a season sweep over their NFC East rivals. This was swiftly followed by general manager Adam Peters' most aggressive move to date before the 2024 trade deadline.
With the Commanders in a position to make a strong push for the postseason, Peters acted accordingly. Washington pulled off a bombshell agreement with the New Orleans Saints for cornerback Marshon Lattimore. This solves a significant need and also fits into the team's long-term plans for sustained growth.
For the coaches and players, it's back down to business. Nothing is won or lost at the trade deadline. The Commanders need to keep up their outstanding 7-2 opening to the campaign and prepare effectively for another imposing challenge on home soil this weekend.
Washington has three of its next four games at Northwest Stadium before the bye week. First up is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who were all but written off before the campaign but have once again impressively silenced their doubters.
Mike Tomlin is a master strategist. He's a future Pro Football Hall of Famer and widely respected in league circles. He'll have worked hard during Pittsburgh's extended rest period to come up with a plan to end the Commanders' momentum surge abruptly and enhance his chances of another AFC North title along the way.
Can the Commanders rise to the occasion and secure their eighth triumph? Or will the fresher Steelers have too much when it's all said and done?

Commanders vs. Steelers prediction for Week 10
This is going to be a tremendous measuring stick for the Commanders. Both teams come into the game in good form. It's also worth remembering the Steelers' impressive record under Tomlin when coming off their bye weeks.
Jayden Daniels' skill set isn't going to be a new problem to counteract, either. Pittsburgh is well-versed in how to restrict a passing quarterback with the ability to generate significant yards on the ground. They've done it twice a season with two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson and enjoyed their fair share of success. Becoming too reliant on the No. 2 pick is not an option for offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.
The Commanders also need to match the physicality Pittsburgh brings to the table. This shouldn't be a problem considering the improvements made, but nothing but 100 percent effort and execution will do.
- Prediction: Commanders win
Just how much home-field advantage the Commanders will have given how well the Steelers' fanbase travels is anyone's guess. This will be decided by fine margins. If Washington can come out on the other end with another victory, it'll set them up nicely for the team's Thursday Night Football showdown at the Philadelphia Eagles.
