General manager Adam Peters was under an enormous amount of pressure during the 2026 NFL Draft. High-end assets were at a premium for the Washington Commanders, so the onus was on the respected front-office supremo to maximize every resource in the pressure cooker.
The incoming draft class still has to prove itself, of course. But the returns earned by Peters and the Commanders have drawn widespread praise since the draft concluded.
And for one NFL Draft analyst, the general manager should be the toast of Washington right now.
FanSided draft expert blown away by Commanders' impressive 2026 class
Mike Luciano of FanSided gave the Commanders an A grade for their draft exploits. He was blown away by what Peters accomplished with such limited capital. The final pick raised eyebrows, but the draft expert even put that in the correct context.
"Adam Peters and the Washington Commanders did something I didn't think was possible. Even without more than two picks in the first four rounds, they got an A grade for what they did in the 2026 NFL Draft.
"The only pick I didn't like was in the seventh round, Athan Kaliakmanis. But it's a seventh-round quarterback who'll be fighting for QB3. If that's the worst thing you did on a draft weekend, then Adam Peters, man, should be the toast of the town right now."

The Commanders have nailed this offseason. There are still a couple of problem areas to resolve, but fans couldn't have asked for much more.
Peters' approach had the right blend of aggressiveness and composure. Everything was measured, the conviction was high, and the aligned vision between everyone in positions of power came to the fore constantly.
Washington would pay the compensation for five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil again in a heartbeat. That didn't make Peters' task any easier during the draft, but he came out on the other end smiling.
The Commanders still have cash to spend if the right options become (or are currently) available in the remaining veteran pool. Another wide receiver wouldn't hurt, and the safety room could use a capable veteran. The cornerback unit is another potential weak link, but Washington has the right man to lead them back to prominence.
Peters took some heat for the way things unfolded last season. The injuries didn't help, but his recruitment strategy came under fire. He's silenced those doubters and then some over the last few months. And if his third draft class lives up to the hype, it'll be all systems go for Washington.
And then, Peters will really be the toast of the town.
