Adam Peters is surveying the landscape after the 2026 NFL Draft. The Washington Commanders' selections throughout the process have been well received by fans and the media, but there are still a couple of holes to fill before the new campaign begins.

Fortunately, the Commanders have enough salary-cap space to ensure nothing is off the table. Peters will have a good idea of where things stand and what more might be needed, and the cash is there if the right additions can be found.

Obviously, it's a fluid situation. Players will be released from clubs, and the period after June 1 is another time when opportunities may arise. Peters has the roster looking better and more balanced after a busy offseason, but complacency is simply not an option.

There is too much at stake for that.

Looking at the remaining free-agent pool as it stands, there are a few options worthy of consideration in positions of need for the Commanders. On this topic, here are seven who could be worth investigating in greater detail with the draft now firmly in the rearview mirror.

Commanders could sign Jauan Jennings

All the talk has centered on Brandon Aiyuk in the days after the 2026 NFL Draft. The Washington Commanders are reportedly keen, and it's pretty common knowledge that the wide receiver wants to reunite with quarterback Jayden Daniels. However, the San Francisco 49ers are dug in with their stance, so this could go on for months yet.

Besides, there is just no telling what Aiyuk could bring. He's supposedly fit and ready to play, but he's not been on an NFL field since midway through the 2024 campaign. That means he is no sure thing, which is why the Commanders are reluctant to trade for him.

According to team insider Ben Standig, the Commanders also reached out to Jauan Jennings. He thought this was merely for due diligence, but the pass-catcher does have a prior connection to Peters from their time together in San Francisco.

Jennings is a big-bodied receiver who'd complement what the Commanders already have. While that might be the case, this ship may have already sailed.

The Minnesota Vikings hosted Jennings, and reports suggest that he will join the NFC North club. That would leave the Commanders out of luck, so it's a case of waiting for Aiyuk or identifying someone else in the veteran pool who could help.
