Dan Quinn has had countless challenges to overcome this season. And the Washington Commanders head coach was confronted with another shortly before their Week 15 clash with the New York Giants.
And for once, there was absolutely nothing he could do about it.
Anyone in the northeast region woke up on Sunday morning to snow — a lot of it, too. It came down hard and heavy, continuing for several hours. Unsurprisingly, several NFL games will be affected, including the Commanders' trip to MetLife Stadium.
Commanders have the weather to navigate during their trip to the Giants
The Giants have covered their turf, for what it's worth. JP Finlay from NBC Sports posted a video on social media of the state of play just before kickoff, with snow falling and staff working hard to clear it. This is something a little bit different for the Commanders this season, but it won't make things any easier by any stretch of the imagination.

According to AccuWeather, snow is expected to continue right until kickoff. It's going to clear after that, but it will still be blusery and frigid in East Rutherford, with temperatures ranging from -2 to -4 throughout the contest.
The turf at MetLife Stadium is unforgiving at the best of times. This will be played on what will feel like ice-covered concrete, so it'll be fascinating to see if the game plan adjusts and how the players handle it. Division games are always physical, but everyone taking their place in the lineup should anticipate some punishment in these conditions.
It's a genuine concern for Quinn. It's also a journey into theunknown for Washington. They aren't used to playing in the snow. Therefore, this is about staying professional and focused, and doing everything possible to keep complications to a minimum.
Quinn will learn a lot more about his players over the final four games of 2025. That takes on greater significance in brutal weather conditions like this, so nothing but the correct resolve will do. There will be mistakes, especially on what could be an extremely slippery surface, but those who don't display maximum commitment at all times will get found out pretty quickly.
The conditions are the same for both clubs. That's what can happen at this time of year in this part of the world, so it shouldn't come as a shock. Whoever copes better with the cold, wind, and snow will prosper, while the other will fall further into the proverbial NFL abyss.
Let's hope that isn't the Commanders when push comes to shove.
