Commanders could sign Devin Lloyd

The Washington Commanders cannot run it back with Bobby Wagner if they are serious about rejuvenating their defense. He's been a massive asset to the club over the last two years, but the future first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer's powers are on the decline. And he may want the chance to chase another ring, in any case.

Washington has Frankie Luvu, who'll play an important role. Jordan Magee could develop into a decent contributor under Daronte Jones. More is needed, and it seems like the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to let Devin Lloyd test the market.

Lloyd instantly becomes the best free-agent linebacker if the Jaguars cannot work out a long-term deal. His dynamism, well-rounded traits, and physical approach are precisely what the Commanders should be looking for. If they could convince the Utah product to join this ambitious project, it would be the biggest statement of intent imaginable.

Commanders could sign Trey Hendrickson

It's no secret that the Commanders have a dire need to fix their edge-rushing options during the offseason. Adam Peters will leave no stone unturned in his quest to fortify this unit, which will be integral to Daronte Jones' projected scheme.

The time for half-measures is over. Peters needs to treat this need with the respect it deserves, and the Commanders must go big-game hunting for some of the more proven options on the market.

Trey Hendrickson is atop the list. The All-Pro defensive edge is leaving the Cincinnati Bengals after a prolific stint with the franchise. Though he dealt with some injury problems last season, the NFL's sack leader in 2023 and 2024 will be in high demand.

If the Commanders believe their turnaround can be quick, Hendrickson will be in the frame. They won't be alone, but Washington has enough cash to make him a decent offer with the promise of an indispensable role over the next couple of years.

Commanders could sign Jauan Jennings

Much of the speculation this offseason has centered on the Commanders reuniting star quarterback Jayden Daniels with his close friend and former college teammate, Brandon Aiyuk, when the wide receiver is inevitably released by the San Francisco 49ers. However, there is another pass-catcher about to hit the market whom Adam Peters is familiar with.

Peters held an influential position in the Niners' front office when the franchise spent a seventh-round pick on Jauan Jennings. The wideout's steady rise into a valuable contributor could see him cash in when free agency hits, and San Francisco may not have the financial resources to match any offer.

Jennings has never had a 1,000-yard receiving season, and he's renowned for goading the opposition to the brink of fury, but he's a big-bodied receiver who offers something different to what Washington currently has. What Peters must decide is whether he's worthy of the bumper payday coming his way.
