Jordan Magee - Commanders LB
The Washington Commanders' linebacking corps now looks strong. It also looks crowded, and Jordan Magee could be the odd man out when it comes to earning playing time this season.
Washington still believes in Magee. He's almost a lock to make the roster, with his size and athleticism coming with some outstanding flashes over the last two years when tasked with snaps on the defensive rotation. Becoming more disciplined is the next challenge, but the Commanders were in no position to wait around.
Adam Peters signed Leo Chenal in free agency and spent the No. 7 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft on Sonny Styles. With Frankie Luvu switching back to his off-ball role, this trio is entrenched, and one has to wonder just how much space there will be for Magee in the defensive lineup.
Magee has the speed and instinctiveness to be a massive asset on special teams. If he wants more, nothing but a strong summer will do.
Dyami Brown - Commanders WR
This will be Dyami Brown's last chance with the Commanders. The wide receiver left the franchise last year for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he's now returned to familiar surroundings after things fell completely flat in the Florida heat.
There is an opening for Brown to feature heavily if the performance levels this summer raise confidence. Concerns around the wideout options behind Terry McLaurin are evident, with speculation remaining high around another accomplished veteran pass-catcher joining the ranks at some stage. Nothing has been confirmed as yet, and until it does, the former North Carolina playmaker will get his shot.
Brown already has an established connection with quarterback Jayden Daniels. He's been working hard all offseason, and the 2021 third-round pick believes he is a different player now after learning some harsh lessons in Jacksonville. At the same time, talk is cheap for someone who's almost always flattered to deceive.
It's now or never for Brown, and he knows it.
Ahkello Witherspoon - Commanders CB
The Commanders felt another capable performer was required for their cornerback room before training camp. Adam Peters reacted swiftly, signing Rasul Douglas to a one-year deal worth up to $3.8 million with incentives.
This was largely well-received by fans. Douglas has the size, ball-tracking, and anticipation to fit well into Daronte Jones' scheme. He might be nothing more than a key depth piece behind Trey Amos, Mike Sainristil, and Amik Robertson, but he's an instant upgrade that pushes everyone else down the pecking order.
That brings Ahkello Witherspoon under the microscope. He also joined the Commanders on a one-year deal this offseason, but an up-and-down start over Washington's offseason program wasn't the immediate impact he was looking for. With extra competition now in the room, a massive effort is needed to change perceptions.
Witherspoon was an outstanding player at his best. Injuries have constantly derailed his momentum, but the stakes couldn't be much higher in his quest to stick around on the 53-man roster.
