Commanders could sign Lloyd Cushenberry III

The Washington Commanders haven't done much to improve their center position this offseason. Releasing starting option Tyler Biadasz was a strange decision at the time, and even stranger after he quickly signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. Aside from extending Nick Allegretti with one year remaining on his deal, general manager Adam Peters has stood pat.

That has to change. Allegretti might get the chance to compete for the starting job, but giving him a free run is simply not an option. Peters will have a plan in place. Examining Lloyd Cushenberry III's credentials in greater detail wouldn't be a bad place to start.

Cushenberry was released by the Tennessee Titans this offseason. He's experienced, has been productive, and can operate in various blocking schemes. And at 28, his prime years are just beginning when one considers how long offensive linemen play into their 30s.

Commanders could sign Jauan Jennings

All the hype continues to center on the Commanders potentially acquiring Brandon Aiyuk. The San Francisco 49ers will make things difficult, especially if they believe some draft compensation can be obtained before cutting ties. Washington will bide its time, but Adam Peters cannot get left empty-handed.

There is another wideout still sitting on the market that Peters knows well from his time in San Francisco. It's surprising to see Jauan Jennings without a home after his contributions during the 2025 season. He doesn't have the best reputation around the league, but the talent speaks for itself.

Jennings has the size, length, and dynamism that not many in Washington's wideout room possess. Peters signed Dyami Brown and Van Jefferson Jr. in free agency. They are seen as camp bodies or rotational pieces at best, so a bigger splash is required at some stage.

If it's not Aiyuk, it might be Jennings.

Commanders could sign Martin Emerson Jr.

As previously mentioned, the Commanders haven't done enough to strengthen their cornerback unit as yet. Adam Peters will know that better than anybody, but there is plenty of time and a lot of cash left to rectify this possible issue.

Marshon Lattimore was released as expected. Jonathan Jones signed for the Philadelphia Eagles, and Noah Igbinoghene landed an incredible opportunity with the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. Only Amik Robertson has been acquired to date, so it would be shocking if Peters didn't have an option or two up his sleeve.

Providing the medical assessments check out, perhaps taking a chance on Martin Emerson Jr. will be contemplated by those in power. He missed the entire 2025 campaign after tearing his Achilles tendon with the Cleveland Browns last summer, but his size and length are traits Daronte Jones looks for in his boundary corners.
