Quan Martin - Commanders S
As previously mentioned, the Washington Commanders were in desperate need of a rethink at the safety position. Daronte Jones may have expressed his faith in the options currently available, but fans knew reinforcements were coming in some capacity.
The Commanders have brought one new signing into the fold. Nick Cross was the choice, whose hard-hitting mentality and ability in the box should be a considerable asset for Jones to call upon.
That might not be the only new arrival on the defensive back end, either. The Commanders could draft Caleb Downs at No. 7 overall. Others will also be considered a little further down the draft order. And any more fresh faces are only going to make things more difficult for Quan Martin.
The 2023 second-round pick's projected breakout campaign failed miserably. Martin was on the fringes down the stretch, so a massive effort is needed to turn the tide.
Ben Sinnott - Commanders TE
This offseason represented a referendum of sorts for Ben Sinnott. Offensive coordinator David Blough's comments about his development didn't exactly bode well, which was all but confirmed by Adam Peters over the first wave of free agency.
Instead of placing their faith in Sinnott to make the desired progress, the Commanders signed Chig Okonkwo to a three-year, $30 million deal. This move comes with a high ceiling, and it places the 2024 second-round pick's long-term future firmly under the microscope.
Sinnott has flashed briefly as a pass-catcher. He looks more useful as a blocker, which could see the Commanders move him to a fullback-type role within Blough's schematic concepts. That wasn't why Washington drafted him, but his on-field production wasn't enough to inspire confidence in anything else.
All hope is not lost with Sinnott, but if he flatters to deceive again in 2026, it may be his last season in Washington.
Luke McCaffrey - Commanders WR
The Commanders haven't made any major moves at the wide receiver position as yet. But make no mistake; they are coming.
Speculation remains rampant that Washington will make a bold move for Brandon Aiyuk when he is released by the San Francisco 49ers. Jauan Jennings is another with close ties to Adam Peters. The Commanders could also use the No. 7 pick on someone like Carnell Tate or Jordyn Tyson, depending on how the board shakes out.
With Dyami Brown and Van Jefferson Jr. already on board, competition for places has risen exponentially. Although it's unlikely that Luke McCaffrey will lose his roster spot, he faces a fight to prove worthy of more than just a kick return role this offseason.
McCaffrey was on course for Pro Bowl consideration in this discipline before breaking his collarbone. Hopefully, offensive coordinator David Blough's new concepts will bring more from the wideout in Year 3.
