Winner No. 4
Antonio Williams - Commanders WR
As mentioned previously, the Washington Commanders still have questions to answer at the wide receiver position. Until then, those behind Terry McLaurin on the depth chart are getting the chance to stake their respective claims.
Arguably, nobody was more impressive than Antonio Williams at OTAs. The third-round rookie caught the eye of coaches, teammates, and even some former Washington players. This adds to the momentum generated at rookie minicamp, and there is a growing belief that the former Clemson pass-catcher could have a big role to play when the regular season arrives.
Williams had a first-round projection before his final college campaign at Clemson in 2025. Things didn't go well, and he was no doubt stung to wait until No. 71 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft before his name got called. Even so, the Commanders represent the best possible environment to make his presence felt immediately.
Loser No. 3
Chris Paul - Commanders OL
Chris Paul took advantage of what was probably his last chance to cement his importance to the Commanders last season. He came into the starting left guard position and performed well. While it was not perfect by any stretch, it represented the best production of his professional career by a considerable margin.
This also came at the best possible time.
Paul entered free agency, and he was expected to generate interest. That didn't arrive, and the Commanders managed to get him back on a one-year, prove-it deal when most thought he would take his chances elsewhere.
It was a pleasant surprise. However, the signs emanating from OTAs indicate Paul must prove himself all over again to affirm his place in the lineup.
The Tulsa product is in a legitimate competition for Brandon Coleman, who has also featured heavily with the first-string offensive line at left guard. Paul is well in contention, but it's not going to be easy over the summer.
Winner No. 5
Chig Okonkwo - Commanders TE
The Commanders took a big chance on Chig Okonkwo this offseason. They need help at the tight end position with Zach Ertz aging and recovering from a torn ACL. Getting younger and more dynamic was imperative, and Adam Peters believes this is the guy to fulfill these objectives.
Okonkwo has been a modest contributor throughout his career. That could be down to the less-than-stellar situations he found himself in with the Tennessee Titans. With Jayden Daniels under center and a scheme that promises to utilize tight ends heavily under offensive coordinator David Blough, this could be the spark that propels him to a 2026 breakout.
According to reports, Okonkwo was a revelation throughout OTAs. The quickness, sharp route-running, and forcefulness after the catch came across well. It's early days, of course, but it already looks like the former Maryland standout will have a significant role to play.
