Head coach Dan Quinn will not be cutting the Washington Commanders' mandatory minicamp short, as others around the league have done. That is not in his thought process after such a disappointing campaign in 2025, and everyone is looking to set a completely different tone to turn their fortunes around.
The players have fully bought in so far. They were hurt by letting the fans down last season. Injuries didn't help their cause, but the vibes were off long before that excuse became plausible.
Minicamp turns things up a notch before the pre-summer break. The Commanders are getting a good look at everybody right now. Everyone — from the franchise cornerstones to those on the roster bubble and even below that — is getting opportunities to get noticed. Some aren't quite doing enough, but others have wasted no time in catching the eye.
General manager Adam Peters will be watching developments closely. Quinn and his staff will also continually evaluate the landscape. Things can change quickly, but for now, the atmosphere and overall mindset are enough to encourage fans.
With this in mind, here are five reported standouts from the first day of Washington's mandatory minicamp.
Supreme standouts from the first day of Washington Commanders 2026 minicamp
Jaden Bradley - Commanders WR
The Washington Commanders have several unknowns in their wide receiver room. Terry McLaurin is the only sure thing, but the decision-makers are relying on their younger pass-catchers to make the desired improvements within a scheme more suited to their skill sets.
It's a fluid situation, of course. Speculation continues about Brandon Aiyuk's potential arrival once he is eventually cut loose by the San Francisco 49ers. Stefon Diggs is obviously interested in a homecoming, but Adam Petters has not pulled the trigger as yet.
Until then, others are getting their chances to shine. And based on the first day of minicamp and other positive reports throughout the offseason to date, it seems as if the Commanders may have another undrafted rookie riser on their hands in the form of Jaden Bradley.
There is a lot to like about Bradley's size and route coordination. He once again made his opportunities count on the opening day of minicamp, making several impressive contested catches during 11-on-11 drills to raise his stock even further.
Making the roster will be difficult for Bradley, and tougher tests will no doubt be coming as preparations intensify in training camp and the preseason. But the ambitious pass-catcher couldn't have done much more to get noticed at this early stage.
