Ben Sinnott - Commanders TE

Ben Sinnott was in a bullish mood heading into the 2026 campaign. The tight end believed previous offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury had underused him and promised Washington Commanders fans they would now see the best of him in a real NFL offense.

But four games into the campaign, it's been more of the same from the 2024 second-round selection.

Sinnott just isn't doing enough. He's played 40 percent of offensive snaps, which is surprising given that Chig Okonkwo missed two games with a hamstring issue. The Kansas State product only has two targets, bringing in one reception for six receiving yards.

If this is the best of Sinnott as he promised, he's got a big problem on his hands.

The trust just isn't there with Sinnott. He's got some useful athleticism and can flash as a blocker, but something is still preventing the Commanders from making him a real focal point. And with Okonkwo now back in the lineup, this is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Washington thought Sinnott could become Zach Ertz's heir. He hasn't met expectations, and with Johnny Newton and Mike Sainristil also failing to make an impact, the three second-round picks general manager Adam Peters made in 2024 are looking like major whiffs.

Quan Martin - Commanders S

The Commanders have missed Nick Cross on the back end of their defense. He's dealing with an internal injury sustained against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, but head coach Dan Quinn expects him to practice in some capacity this week. That would be a welcome boost, but it's a precarious situation.

In Cross' absence, the Commanders have asked more from Quan Martin. Their faith in the 2023 second-round pick seems unwavering, but the consistency has been lacking again.

Martin was expected to break out last season, but his fortunes went the other way. The Commanders kept faith with the Illinois product, believing defensive coordinator Daronte Jones' scheme could help bring him back to life. He did enough to make the team, but his positional flaws and tackling technique remain ongoing frustrations.

This is a numbers game, so Martin is in no real danger of being cut before his contract expires. But if it's all systems go with Cross moving forward, he can expect his involvement to reduce considerably.

Jeremy Reaves almost lost a finger against the Indianapolis Colts, so his status is worth monitoring closely. That could give Martin a reprieve, but it's starting to look like his future in Washington will be over once the campaign concludes.
