5 bold Washington Commanders predictions vs. the Steelers in Week 10
By Dean Jones
Commanders OL concedes just one sack
Much has been made about the Pittsburgh Steelers' defensive front. They can wreak havoc when given enough space to do damage. However, their overall sack numbers aren't what some would think upon further investigation.
The Steelers are averaging 2.4 sacks per game. That ranks No. 17 league-wide despite the hype attached to this group. In comparison, the Washington Commanders pass-rush - seen as a potential weak link by some analysts - sits at No. 13 in the standings with 2.6 per contest.
Couple this with the improvements along Washington's offensive line, and limiting the Steelers' pressure is a tough yet attainable objective. This all centers on stopping edge rusher T.J. Watt, who is a phenomenal danger and can turn any game on its head once early momentum is generated.
If the Commanders can scheme things up effectively and counteract Watt's threat, they have a chance. Keeping the Steelers vaunted defensive front seven to one sack would go a long way to achieving their eighth victory in 10 regular-season contests.
Terry McLaurin gains 120+ receiving yards
Nobody deserves what's occurring within the Commanders more than Terry McLaurin. The veteran wide receiver remained professional and productive as all around him crumbled under the previous regime. It's completely shifted with head coach Dan Quinn leading the charge in a short space of time. And make no mistake, he is savoring every moment.
The former third-round selection out of Ohio State also has a franchise quarterback for the first time. McLaurin and Jayden Daniels have developed some outstanding chemistry. There's a genuine trust between the two. When the signal-caller needs a crucial play, he'll look to the Pro Bowl pass-catcher more often than not.
McLaurin has another stern test of his credentials this weekend. Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joe Porter Jr. is making no secret about his mindset in Week 10. He wants to challenge himself versus the Commanders and McLaurin, in particular. But as Deonte Banks found out last week, be careful what you wish for.
This is a big game. Big games call for big performances. Expect McLaurin to answer the call and help the Commanders surge to another impressive performance with an expectant fanbase watching on.
