The Washington Commanders made their move. After a painstaking wait for fans, general manager Adam Peters eventually signed veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a one-year deal that could be worth up to $12 million.
This has the scope to take Washington's offense to even greater heights. But there will inevitably be some ripple effects for good or bad.
The Commanders had to do something. Genuine productivity was in short supply behind Terry McLaurin on the wideout depth chart. Diggs instantly changes that, and there should be an added spring in his step after finally securing his dream homecoming.
Diggs was the best remaining free agent receiver on the market. He wanted to join Washington, and the team has been in constant communication with the Maryland product throughout the offseason. It perhaps took longer than expected, but Peters got a deal that represents a win-win for all parties involved.
Washington's offense now looks like it could be a problem. It's well-balanced with a nice blend of youth and experience. Couple this with a defense expected to improve and the renewed locker room purpose after such a torrid campaign in 2025, and things are looking up.
Unfortunately, it won't be good news for everybody.
With this in mind, here are four winners and three losers from the Commanders' decision to sign Diggs.

Antonio Williams - Commanders WR
While Stefon Diggs joining the Commanders may have an adverse impact on a rookie wide receiver looking for an important role, that is unlikely to be the case with Antonio Williams.
In fact, it stands to benefit him enormously.
One thing that became evident over Diggs' season with the New England Patriots was his willingness to help. He was the perfect teammate, always going the extra mile to propel his teammates to even greater heights. If the same attitude comes to Washington, the third-round selection out of Clemson could be the primary beneficiary.
What an incredible spot Williams is in. He's got a chance to become the starting slot receiver. Getting the chance to learn from Diggs and Terry McLaurin is another plus, something he should take full advantage of.
Williams can create separation. He can make things happen after the catch and is elusive in space. If he can get some extra nuances from Diggs for however long he's around in Washington, the chances of a productive career improve exponentially.
Diggs isn't here to hold Williams back. If anything, it'll help him adjust much quicker than anticipated.
