Commanders’ new ownership date?

I guess no news is good news regarding the sale process lately. It’s been relatively quiet since Dan Snyder agreed to sell the Washington Commanders to a group led by Josh Harris for $6.05 billion, with their initial paperwork coming with very few alteration requests from those in the NFL office.

Although others are still trying to throw their hat in the ring, it looks like a done deal unless something drastic happens beforehand. This is great for fans, who can look forward to an exciting new era without Snyder’s meddling and disgrace putting the franchise under a dark cloud.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated recently stated that a sale could officially get the green light on June 1 if everything goes according to plan. The insider added that the NFL’s finance committee will meet early next month, where Harris and his group will detail their concise plan to propel Washington back to among the league’s frontrunners on and off the field.

"“The NFL’s finance committee is scheduled to meet in New York on May 10 as part of a set of committee meetings that week on Park Avenue. That meeting had been on the books before Snyder reached an agreement with Harris, but the expectation is that’s where Harris and his group will give the committee an in-depth presentation on the structure of the deal and show they have the financial resources needed. Which means by June 1, a new era should be underway in D.C.”"

Since the sale announcement came to light, it’s been pretty smooth sailing. This obviously comes as a welcome relief given Snyder’s previous history of being awkward, but there might be a twist or two to come before something gets rubber-stamped.
