Commanders could draft Darnell Wright
Another prospect that’s been constantly linked to the Washington Commanders has surged up draft boards and media projections throughout the evaluation process. Darnell Wright is an accomplished performer that looks set to be a Day 1 starter capable of playing multiple positions across the offensive line.
Wright has a significant amount of experience coming out of Tennessee. He played either side of the offensive line throughout his college stint, with technical aspects of his production coming on encouragingly with every passing year to further enhance his stock.
This stands out considerably when examining Wright on tape. Progression such as this won’t go unnoticed by NFL scouts and is a sign of the player taking on coaching effectively – which is essential for any next-level hopeful.
One thing that sets Wright apart centers on footwork. He is a fluid mover for a man his size, which enables him to mirror oncoming rushers and react quickly to any swift change in direction for good measure.
Wright has enough functional strength to make a contribution to the running game. He’ll need to improve balance against quicker edge rushers, but it’s not hard to see why multiple teams are taking a close interest in the former Volunteer before the draft.
