Terry McLaurin on Commanders’ intent

While fans are firmly focused on incoming recruits from the 2023 NFL Draft, those already on the roster are busy honing their conditioning ahead of OTAs and training camp. Considering what could be at stake for the Washington Commanders if the franchise falls under new ownership, everything has to go right throughout the preparation period.

Ahead of what should be another fascinating summer, wide receiver Terry McLaurin made his intentions clear about what he expects from himself and his teammates when competitive games arrive. Speaking to the Commanders’ website, his fighting spirit came across in no uncertain terms – something in keeping with his on-field production from the moment he arrived out of Ohio State.

"“We’re going to be a physical football team and take it to people. We’re going to be aggressive in all three phases. We’re not going to lay down or back down from anyone. I think that has to stay the same, no matter who is wearing this jersey.”"

Having leaders like McLaurin around is infectious. The Commanders boast a nice blend of youth and experience across their roster, so any new college acquisitions need to get on the same page quickly or risk getting left behind.

This is also a big campaign for the wideout. McLaurin has to get everyone on board with Eric Bieniemy’s new scheme, make an outstanding contribution individually, and also do everything he can to assist Sam Howell’s transition into a potential starting quarterback.

It won’t be easy. But nothing worth having is.
