3 potential losers from the Commanders 2023 offseason so far

Saahdiq Charles – Commanders OL
There was a significant need to strengthen the offensive line this offseason. The Washington Commanders were let down in this area of the field too many times in 2022 to justify moving forward with their current options, which is something that played a leading role in narrowly missing out on a postseason spot.
The Commanders didn’t have much money to spend, but they managed to acquire two productive veteran pieces in free agency that can fill starting roles next time around. Nick Gates and Andrew Wylie come into the organization on the back of decent campaigns, with the latter attaining his second Super Bowl ring after a flawless performance against the Philadelphia Eagles on the grandest stage of all.
This is positive and the promise of more reinforcements arriving via the 2023 NFL Draft adds further encouragement. What this means for those already on the roster is unclear, but it’s the clearest sign yet that confidence is waning where Saahdiq Charles is concerned.
Charles came into the Commanders as a physically-imposing development project. For some reason, it just hasn’t clicked yet for the former fourth-round pick, who earned a terrible 49.3 grade from Pro Football Focus over his 290 snaps last season.
Depending on what happens during the draft, Charles could be further down the depth chart than ever before. Something that throws his roster hopes into serious doubt unless monumental strides are made in the coming months.
