How have the Washington Commanders blown away expectations during an eventful 2023 offseason for the organization so far?

The Washington Commanders have gone about their business relatively quietly this offseason. This is in keeping with Ron Rivera’s roster-building methods and represents a nice change of pace following some drama-filled years and ill-advised contracts.

Whether this comes with a change in fortunes next season is another matter. The Commanders weren’t a million miles away from the postseason in 2022 despite their ongoing complications at the quarterback position, so any improvements will put them right in the thick of things despite the competitive nature of the NFC East these days.

Ron Rivera knows how high the stakes could get if Dan Snyder sells the team as expected before the campaign. So anything less than playoff football could spell the end of his time with the Commanders.

That’s for the future. For now, here are three ways the Commanders blew away expectations during the 2023 offseason so far.

Commanders ignored the outside noise

With the constant swirling rumors, allegations, and everything in between regarding the Washington Commanders potentially being sold by Dan Snyder, it would have been easy for those within the building to become distracted. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Ron Rivera and his staff remain focused on the football side of things in the face of significant uncertainty. This provided assurance to fans that even though the sale process continues, this hasn’t altered how the Commanders are approaching things this offseason with extreme efficiency.
