Which underrated moves made by the Washington Commanders have the potential to propel their potential playoff push in 2023?
A methodical, structured approach has been the hallmark throughout Ron Rivera’s time with the Washington Commanders. Despite the pressure set to increase significantly on the head coach when new ownership is finally confirmed, he has not deviated from the original plan.
That’s not to say big changes haven’t occurred across the franchise this off-season. New coaches have arrived, some shrewd signings were made in free agency, and the Commanders still boast an abundance of 2023 NFL Draft selections to further strengthen their position.
Whether this will be enough to stake a claim within the NFC East remains to be seen. But make no mistake, this is something Rivera must accomplish to avoid any unnecessary speculation about his long-term future.

Commanders signed Nick Gates
Acquiring Nick Gates could be the glue that holds the Washington Commanders’ offensive line together in 2023. There are some injury red flags to consider, but the player’s leadership, versatility, and consistency are traits that will be of significant use providing there are no further complications on the health front.
If the Commanders opt to put Gates at the center position, it’ll be a huge upgrade. One that could end Chase Roullier’s injury-laden stay in Washington along the way.
