Christian Gonzalez scouting report

It’s hard not to love the way Christian Gonzalez goes about his business. Don’t let the infectious smile fool you – this is a player with enormous conviction in his own abilities that’s willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to assist his team.

The first thing that stands out with Gonzalez is speed. He plays at 100 miles an hour and has the discipline to back it up, which is exactly what the Washington Commanders have been craving at the cornerback position for some time.

Gonzalez has the know-how to track the football and go downfield with wide receivers seamlessly. His instincts are sound, which is matched by an exceptional tackling technique that stands out considerably on running downs.

The one-time Oregon stud has the necessary size and length associated with modern-day NFL cornerbacks. Gonzalez mirrors routes well and has the right short-area explosiveness to react quickly when the quarterback’s read is deciphered.

While there is only one season of outstanding production to go off, Gonzalez seems to be coming into his own at just the right time. Once the prospect becomes more disciplined against NFL-caliber wide receivers who’ll punish every mistake, someone is going to have a real player on their hands.
