Paris Johnson Jr. scouting report

When one examines the credentials Paris Johnson Jr. brings to the table, it’s hard to find any real flaws. The offensive tackle is athletic, intelligent, and technically sound, which is a solid foundation from which to build en route to a productive NFL career.

Johnson’s agility is what sets him apart from most edge protectors emerging from the college ranks this year. He mirrors oncoming pass-rushers extremely well and also boasts enough functional strength to keep his hands at the contact point with relative comfort.

There shouldn’t be anything to worry about where Johnson is concerned regarding footwork. His athleticism is extraordinary, but there is also a high football IQ to anticipate what’s coming on any given down.

Impacting the run game is also no problem for Johnson. The lineman is an absolute mauler – especially when his explosiveness gets to the second level – and there is ruthless aggression to his finishing of plays that stands out considerably to further enhance his stock.

Johnson does have only one year of experience as a left tackle, which is a slight concern. However, this also gives the prospect an immensely high ceiling once he receives NFL coaching and gets more reps under his belt.

There are very few sure things in the draft. Johnson’s physique, performance levels, and current career trajectory make him as close as it gets.
