Commanders 2023 NFL Draft scouting report: Paris Johnson Jr.
By Dean Jones
The 2023 NFL Draft is almost upon us and the Washington Commanders could use a left tackle with Paris Johnson Jr.’s credentials at No. 16 overall.
After a busy period of free agency for the Washington Commanders, attention is now firmly on which college prospects will come into the fold via the 2023 NFL Draft. Those in power have eight selections at their disposal currently and many needs to fill, so it’ll be a fascinating weekend that could go a long way to determining how successful Ron Rivera will be in his fourth season.
One of the biggest needs for the Commanders centers on the offensive line. More specifically, finding a long-term left tackle that can solidify a position that’s been devoid of true consistency since Trent Williams was traded to the San Francisco 49ers.
Washington does have Charles Leno Jr., who is serviceable and a supreme leadership presence within the locker room for good measure. However, if the Commanders can find themselves a better option atop the draft at No. 16 overall, they’d be foolish not to consider it at the very least.
One of the premier tackle prospects emerging from the college ranks in 2023 is Paris Johnson Jr. The former Ohio State standout has everything associated with exceptional blindside protectors at the next level, with his outstanding consistency also playing a leading role in C.J. Stroud’s rapid emergence into a potential No. 1 overall selection this year.
With that being said, we took an in-depth look at Johnson and how he might fit with the Commanders in this special scouting report.
